Muriel's Wedding

Muriel Heslop dreams of marriage but finds herself perpetually single, largely due to the influence of her overbearing politician father. After being rejected by her shallow social circle in their small Australian hometown, she forms an unlikely bond with a fellow outsider named Rhonda Epinstalk. Seeking a fresh start, the pair relocates to the bustling city of Sydney. There, Muriel adopts a new identity and attempts to transform her reality into the glamorous life she has always imagined. This journey marks her bold effort to escape her past and construct a future that finally aligns with her long-held personal fantasies.
