Love in the Time of Cholera

Following a fatal accident involving an elderly man in post-Great War Colombia, a grieving widow is approached by a persistent suitor whom she rejects with hostility. The narrative then shifts back over five decades to reveal the origins of this complex connection. It traces the early days of Florentino Ariza, a humble telegraph operator, and his intense infatuation with Fermina Daza, the young daughter of a local mule trader. This historical perspective illuminates the roots of their enduring and complicated history, setting the stage for a decades-long saga defined by unrequited longing and the passage of time.
